Terminator Salvation begins shooting

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington, began principal photography on May 5, 2008, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The McG-directed film, which has a script by Michael Ferris and John Brancato, is the highly anticipated new instalment of The Terminator film franchise.

It is set in post-apocalyptic 2018, and Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. However, the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row.

Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.

The film also stars Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, Charlotte Gainsbourg as Kate Connor, Moon Bloodgood as Blair Williams, Common as Barnes, and Jadagrace as Star.

Director Hits Out At Terminator Leak

Director McG has slammed media outlets purporting to reveal the ending of the fourth installment of the TERMINATOR franchise, insisting only three people are privy to the film's conclusion.

Fans were sent into a frenzy earlier this week (begs02Jun08) when various movie websites circulated a reported spoiler from the highly anticipated Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins film, reports Moviehole.net.

But McG - real name Joseph McGinty Nichol - has hit out at the so-called leaks, claiming only Terminator insiders have been let in on the top-secret plot.

On the film's official blog, McG writes: "The movie comes first and it will be protected at all times…

"By the way, there are only three people who know the ending."

Possible plot spoiler?

Recently there has been a lot of news about Sam Worthington taking a major role in the forthcoming Terminator movie as Marcus, apparently one of the major players in the human resistance. However, I recently came across the following on hollywood.com:
"HOLLYWOOD - Action star-turned-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will not be reprising his famous role as the Terminator in the forthcoming movie sequel - he has been replaced by young Australian actor Sam Worthington."

So this means that either (a)
The article is wrong and should have said that Worthington playing Marcus, or (b) a great big plot twist has been exposed in that one of the leaders of the resistance turns out to be a fully paid up card-holding Terminator!

Australian actor Sam Worthington has been cast in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins after Cameron recommended the young star to director McG after working with him closely on Avatar.

Worthington joins Christian Bale, who plays John Connor, and will play the role of Marcus, a central character in the new movies.

Terminator 4 Plot Details Revealed

CHUD.com have revealed plot and character details for the 4th Terminator movie. Apparently, John Connor is not the main character of Terminator 4; that character is someone named Marcus. Marcus was put 'out of commission' before the nuclear holocaust on Judgment Day and he wakes up about 15 years before the future we see in the original Terminator films, which puts the movie at about 2015. Connor's role is apparently bigger in the second film, though the Marcus character (which is apparently not yet cast) will be around for all three films.
